MARINA AND PAUL RAVENSBERGEN

Marina's Gelato is the fulfillment of a life long dream for Marina and Paul Ravensbergen.

Paul Ravensbergen grew up in a pastry shop in Holland, learning the craft of baking at an early age. After 4 years of full-time formal training at a pastry school, he worked for 2 years in one of the best Dutch pastry bakeries, eventually returning to his family baking industry where he remained until 1975.

From there, he started a new company which manufactured industrial baking ovens. The firm had 2 production plants in Holland, with customers all over Europe. In 1984, Paul turned the successful company over to his son and moved to Canada with his wife Marina, where together they formed Ravensbergen Bakery Supplies Ltd.

Today, Ravensbergen Bakery Supplies specializes in importing high quality baking ingredients, accessories and equipment from European manufacturers and supplying them to restaurants, hotels, bakeries and other ice cream shops around the world.

Although Ravensbergen Bakery Supplies has been extremely successful, Marina and Paul had always dreamed that one day they might own their own ice cream shop. Both have had a passion for gelato for many years and they make frequent visits to Italy for ice cream trade shows. They dreamed of a shop that not only would be a place where they could showcase their baking products and equipment, but it would also serve the finest gelato in B.C.!

So, in June 2002, Paul and Marina Ravensbergen opened Marina's Gelato and their dream was fulfilled! Since then, Paul and Marina have opened a second cafe in Fort Langley and are hoping to continue growing the company in the future!
